Flowers and Birds and the Peak

With some blogging help from home (thanks to Jane, Allie's mom!), we hope we can make this post and pictures work!

Our last day in Hong Kong was a free day...meaning we chose exactly what we wanted to explore. We were fortunate that our hotel is right near the famous Bird and Flower markets and our whole group left the hotel to explore these avenues.

The Bird market is where locals can buy cages and birds of all shapes, sizes and colours.

And the kids loved interacting with some of the birds OUT of cages!

Then off to the Flower market right around the corner where flower vendors sell all varieties of glorious blooms.

Then, as we were all so thrilled to see the sun for the first time in Hong Kong, our group split up and headed off to different activities. The girls and I, my mom, and Kim, Damian and Sophie headed back to the Peak - with no more fog, we hoped to finally see the views we missed on Monday.

Boy, did we!

We had taken a taxi to the top this time, but the round and round route in a very fast taxi made us a little ill, especially Bryanna who has motion sickness issues, so we took the tram back down and that was MUCH more pleasant.

We then headed back to the hotel, finished up a bit of packing and were picked up by our local guide for the trip to the airport and Guilin!

We couldn't wait to see the rest of our friends who were coming from Beijing, and to reunite with MaRui our wonderful guide who planned this trip for us.

Stay tuned tomorrow for our Guilin highlights!

Thanks Osprey Woods teachers and friends who are following our journey! (And thanks for the note about Bryanna's black belt - wahoo!!!!)

So happy that you, AM and the others were able to meet up!

Can't wait to see the pics of the views - sounds like it was worth the return trip.

Love the pics of the girls and the birds - too cute!

Love to you all!

Morning Gang in Guilin,
Your Hong Kong leg of the journey sounds amazing (and inspiring too! Guess Hong Kong will be a must do for the Morgan's in the future). Thanks for working so diligently to get a blog installment posted as well as adding some photos in the face of technological issues. Love all the colourful birds, the sunshine, the foggy views, etc.
Can't wait to hear about your Guilin adventures. Fingers crossed the days are warm and clear. Enjoy the Li River cruise. Who will be brave enough to try the snake wine?
Please pass along our hello's to the group 70/71 families and MaRui.
Cheers,
Steph, Rick, Brenna & Garreth
(hard to believe time has flown by so quickly as we were in Guilin this time last year! It looks like there's another earlier riser following your blog--I thought I was going to be the first to post a comment)
